I’M GOING TO A NOAH KAHAN CONCERT AHH 🥳

HELLO ALL, WELCOME TO ANOTHER POST!!!

Today I am jolly as could be to announce that I am seeing Noah Kahan LIVE!

This will be my second concert ever, my first was to see the Gypsy Kings but the only song I knew was Bamboleo, and I was a young child.

This is such a dream come true, and I can’t wait to share some photos and videos with you! If y’all were here with me in February, you saw the detailed reviews I wrote on each and every song on the Stick Season (Forever) album.

In this post, I will be listing my new favorite songs of his, the deeper understanding I’ve gotten of his lyrics, and my concert outfit as of right now (it may change)!

Ranking

  1. Orange Juice. There are other songs on the album that I love as much as OJ, but they don’t emotionally hold as much value to me. This song shreds me apart. It’s vulnerable (as all of his songs are), but it has some magical element that I can’t place a finger on. The new Live from Fenway version made me sob… and I kept it on repeat. It’s just a really heartfelt song and the imagery in the lyrics makes it that much better.
  2. Forever. This is probably tied with OJ regarding the emotional response it brings me. Except, for Forever, I don’t just cry. I smile, I dance, I sob, and then I begin to laugh again. It is an emotional rollercoaster, and I love every second of it. The yearning tone Kahan uses throughout the song (especially the “Oh my Goddd”) has me in shambles. It’s exquisite. I’m SO nervous for the concert because I will be bawling the whole way through.
  3. Maine. AHHH. I’ve listened to Maine twice before the Fenway album, but the live version made me sit to absorb the lyrics. It’s a soothing road trip kind of song. Now I want to visit Maine. Thanks Noah! “Bad, I miss this place your head and your heart,” is probably my favorite line.
  4. Pain is Cold Water. Someone please pull up a thesaurus in the comments because I’m not sure what synonym of beautiful I can use naturally without sounding like I had ChatGPT write this for me (haha). But these two lines: “But they’re fighting like dogs in the town across the river, Over a brand new crosswalk that won’t matter come winter, Lord…” & “I ain’t bitter ’bout much these days in some ways I’m damn lucky to be here,” have a chokehold over me. They’re divine. Especially the second one. Incredibly satisfying. Noah’s voice just scratches my brain, and I love it.
  5. Call Your Mom. I’ve been singing this all year already, and just found out a month ago… through some weird realization, that it’s about Noah telling his lover not to commit… (we’ll skip over the word because it may be triggering for some). I’ve always wondered what, “If you could see yourself like this, you’d have never tried it,” meant, and now I understand. This was such an “OH MY GOSH WHAT, HOW DID I MISS THAT?!” moment for me. I like the song more now though because the lyrics go deeper than Noah just calling his lover’s mom because of their close relationship. Now I know that it’s to save her from herself. He suggests to “medicate, meditate, save your soul for Jesus… Fall in love, give yourself a reason [to live],” and I’m absolutely mind-blown because I’m only figuring this out now, and because the lyrics hit me continuously like a running train, even more (if that’s possible!). But the listing of multiple ways his lover could save herself, begging her to find any reason to stay, telling her that she shouldn’t be fooled by the darkness… it’s all a chef’s kiss. It is incredible and meaningful, and I’m sure it’s helped many people struggling with their mental health.

My outfit!

This is my outfit for his concert! It’s a denim jumper, a cowboy hat, and I’m going to wear it with gold or silver hoops and some boots.

I’ll be back…

I’ll be back soon with pictures and videos for you all! Hopefully this news excites you as much as it does me.
Stay positive, Nicole. 🤠

    1. That’s such a compliment, thank you! Noah’s talent is insane, so being compared to him is such an honor.

Can you specify which poem you’re talking about in your last line? Thanks!
