Locked in: a poem about being unable to escape

Petals floating in a stilled sky,

Holding myself tightly as I shift away,

Praying to God that he’ll hear my cry,

My tears are burning my face tonight,

When will I free myself?

If it feels so close,

Why won’t a door open?

I’m just waiting for a sign

Trying helplessly

Trying, I’m trying

But it feels endless

When I can see myself dying,

So I wait there standing

Praying and dancing,

Thoughts are floating and nothing’s working

But I’ll just keep on romancing

The idea of life, ideas of love,

And pray the door opens

Tirelessly slave myself to being better

The numbness almost ended it

Tumbling in a hamster wheel of emotions

Why won’t a door open?

When the party’s ended,

I’m feeling stranded

Alone in the darkness

And I’m left empty handed

Running to the nearest door

Banging on it hopelessly

I wait there standing,

Praying and dancing,

Thoughts are floating and nothings working

But I’ll just keep on romancing

The idea of life, ideas of love,

And pray the door opens

I’ll just keep on romancing

The idea of life, ideas of love,

And pray the door opens

Praying it opens,

And sets me free.

Sets me. Finally Free.
