Hi there! I’m Nicole. I thought I’d might as well reintroduce myself since I’ve been missing in action for almost three months.
I suppose to an ordinary person, this would be an embarrassing thing to admit, but I’m quite over all of the extreme emotions, and instead, I’m trying to settle into a peaceful understanding of why I’ve made the choices I’ve made over the past couple of months regarding this space.
My last post was in August, and I had meant to post a part 2 to my New York trip, but August quickly got busy with the start of my senior year. I had been writing for my local magazine, meeting new people, planning clubs, improving college applications, etc. It was quite hectic. September is when school tasks began feeling real, and I had to execute my club ideas, plan my research, focus on classwork, commit to senior activities, and more. I had to switch an in-person Dual Enrollment course to online because of a teacher’s arrest, was bombarded by an absurd amount of politics, and attempted to settle into a new routine. September was a whirlwind.
October and November were a mix of finalizing college apps, fundraisers, club meetings, internship work, dog-walking, fitness, and travel.
And yet it all still feels like an excuse.
Behind the chaos, there was a small voice urging me to post something. I’ve had countless ideas, but none landed. I convinced myself that the time wasn’t right or the post wasn’t perfect. But I’ve missed being here. I think it’s time to let go of the idea that waiting will bring something better, and just commit to what I love.
And so, happy December 1st. There are a lot of posts I’ve missed this year that I think deserve their glory. Tomorrow, part 2 of my NY trip will be posted, and after that, I have three more travel posts as well as a senior activities post, Christmas decor shopping, poetry, and more.
Here is the official welcome to 25 Days of Christmas 🎄, and expect to finally see everything that hasn’t made it to your inbox over the last year.
Cheers to seizing the moment and not allowing perfectionism to get in your way! 🥂 I’ll see ya tomorrow!
